What is LOPSA?LOPSA is the League of Professional System Administrators.How do you pronounce LOPSA?LOPSA is pronounced as LOP-suh (LOP'-suh).What benefits do I get for joining?LOPSA membership benefits fall into two classes. The first supports you as a member and a sysadmin. LOPSA is working to provide educational and networking opportunities, a forum for support and ideas, and an active community engaged in discussion of sysadmin issues. A number of companies now offer discounts to LOPSA members that well exceed the value of membership. As of May 2007, LOPSA also offers professional and liability insurance. The second benefit of joining LOPSA is to advance the profession as a whole. LOPSA aims to bring a voice to system administrators to society beyond. We want to educate the public, influence policy both corporate and legislative, and ensure that our voice is heard. What is SAGE?SAGE is the System Administrator's Guild, a special interest group of the Usenix organization. For more information see the SAGE website. SAGE and LOPSA cooperate on common goals such as the Code of Ethics and the LISA conference. LOPSA seeks to provide legislative advocacy and to help mold legislative policy on issues effecting the profession whereas SAGE is more focussed on research.10468 reads
