LOPSA Call for Volunteers: SCALE Booth

LOPSA is going to the Southern California Linux Expo 2006 (SCALE: http://www.socallinuxexpo.org/) in Los Angeles on February 11-12, 2006. We need volunteers who are willing to come work the booth for a shift or two. The job and mission is to recruit new members, hand out stickers and sell t-shirts, and most critically: eat the food we feed you!

SCALE attendees may or may not have ever heard of LOPSA, and so this is a great opportunity to help expand the reach of our professional society. New member outreach is critical to our launch. Our booth will be open only so long as we can staff it: even if you can commit for only a few hours, that helps!

You do not have to be registered for SCALE to help out at the booth; it is also possible that we can get comp registrations for people willing to work the booth for a day or more.

Anyone interested in helping out at SCALE should contact Mario Obejas, who is leading our presence there, scale06@lopsa.org, or Matthew Barr, LOPSA Board Conference Liasion, at matthew@lopsa.org.

The conference runs Saturday/Sunday from 9:00-4:30. Core hours we want to fill are from 11-4:30, which covers the breaks when we will get the most traffic. It will help if you can indicate how much time you can donate and what are your preferred coverage hours. We will have power, wired, and wireless net access at the booth.
