FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 7, 2008

Members of the League of Professional System Administrators (LOPSA) are teaching a two day System Administration Master Class at the Yet Another Perl Conference North America (YAPC::NA), in Chicago, IL, USA, on June 19 and 20.

The instructors, LOPSA Board Members David Parter and Jesse Trucks, will delve into more than a dozen areas of the profession of system administration critical to all system administrators of any discipline. The course will be technology neutral, appropriate to anyone managing all types of systems and networks.

Areas covered will include Security, Ethics and System Administration, Policy development and the role of policies in system administration, Project Management for System Administration, Change Management, Disaster Recovery, and more.

The class will consist of guided discussions seeded with topical presentations by the instructors. Participants will share ideas and experiences to fuel discussion, and everyone will take away new industry contacts, ideas to implement at the office, and a renewed understanding of the practice and profession of system administration.

Trucks noted "It's easy to find answers about specific technical problems, but non technical and higher-level approaches are not always available. This class offers those solutions."
