The Ohio LinuxFest Needs LOPSA Love -- Please Help!

Submitted by moose on Sat, 2009-09-12 14:49.

The seventh Ohio LinuxFest is happening very soon, September 25-27, 2009, in scenic Downtown Columbus, Ohio. This will be the third year that LOPSA will offer classes in partnership with OLF.

I'm a proud and active member of LOPSA but I'm also an organizer of the Ohio LinuxFest. Wearing my OLF hat I'd like to beg you FOR HELP!

We need to get the word out about OLF. It's kinda last minute, sure, but our registration numbers are horrifically off. Is it the economy? Did we miss crucial marketing? Are people preferring to visit the G20 conference in Pittsburgh? Is it a health care crisis conspiracy? Space aliens?! I don't know!!

LOPSA Elections: Call for Self-Nominations

Submitted by moose on Wed, 2009-03-18 20:49.

The LOPSA Leadership Committee hereby submits a call for Board Candidate Self-Nominations.

The LOPSA Bylaws (http://governance.lopsa.org/index.php/LOPSA_Bylaws) state:
---
An eligible member may stand for election to the Board if:
A petition, signed by no less than 10 (ten) members of the Association in good standing, is submitted to the Chair of the Leadership Committee, no less than 30 days prior to an election.
---

We request that petitions be sent to leadership-chair@lopsa.org no later than 3/31/2009. This gives the Leadership Committee time to set the slate and start gathering candidate statements. Technically a petition can be sent through the end of April, but candidates are encouraged to submit early to be part of the initial process.

LOPSA Speakers Listings

Submitted by moose on Fri, 2006-05-26 17:05.

I'm going to start putting together a list of folks who are willing to come to speak to local groups. Some of us have heard local folks speak on a variety of topics. We'd like to encourage them to visit other local groups as well! Is this you, or someone you know? Either contact me or have them do so.

What I'd need to know is:

Who & Where the speaker is.

What topic(s) the speaker can talk about.

How far the speaker is willing to travel. (ex. same state/province/etc., section of the country, out of the country, etc.)

What reimbursement the speaker requests (if any).

What travel expenses the speaker requests [ex. hotel, airfare, trainfare, etc.] (if any).
