Attached is the transcript of the December 2009 LOPSA Live session. My (pckizer) apologies for the delay in getting it posted; holiday activities and my forgetfulness colluded to lead to my lapse in posting. This was a short session we expect due to the already mentioned holiday prep on the part of many people. Volunteers and participants for SCALE are still requested as well as a pre-announcement of plans for a NJ event this coming year. Our new Executive Director, MaryBeth Kurland, was with us to be introduced as Deepa has an opportunity in a direction that takes her from primary but will still let her be available in Association Headquarters.

[Wed 2009/12/09 15:12:30] <dparter> For those how have not attended SCaLE or OLF, they are great conferences for Linux and open source topics.
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:13:07] <dparter> We've been teaching classes at OLFU and SCaLE-U for 3 years now, and they are a great inexpensive (compared to other options) way to get training for you or your staff
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:14:12] <pck> thanks for the conference/training news
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:14:30] <pck> we definitely hope to see you or your people out there with us
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:15:08] <pck> on LOPSA office news, we have a new name in the office helping us you might see occasionally: Marybeth
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:15:59] <pck> and from the office you should be seeing some surveys soon to help guide us in our planning
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:16:54] <pck> that's all I'm recalling on the new announcements side
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:17:06] <pck> so we are open for questions, comments, etc
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:19:08] <ENOMAD> pck: any changes to who's chairing what committee or any new committees forming?
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:19:17] <jss> I got here a couple of minutes late; did we have any comments on membership growth (e.g., from LISA)?
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:20:01] <pck> 1st nomad, then jss (which I know we have a few #'s for)
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:21:19] <pck> well, I'm not seeing any new committee info, so I'll get back with you on that and mention that
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:21:35] <pck> we saw 49 new members during LISA this year
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:22:35] <jss> And how are we on retention/renewals?
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:24:06] <pck> sorry, I was back to collecting info on commttees and wanted to mention that we are pushing for more locals and chapters and Ski (the chair) would welcome assistance on those pushes
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:24:45] * ENOMAD reminds Ski to get SASAG on the list for next year's President's address at LISA <poke> <poke>
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:25:30] <ski98033> yes, yes
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:26:25] <pck> renewals are trickling in and we are pushing for better retention as well as trying to identify programs and member benefits to help with that
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:29:06] <pck> any other questions/followups or comments?
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:31:06] <lois> I see Marybeth our new Executive director has joined us Welcom Marybeth
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:31:16] <mkurland> Thanks Lois.
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:31:32] <nonrandom> what happened to Deepa?
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:32:11] <mkurland> Deepa is still with Association Headquarters, LOPSA's managment company, but has moved on to new client responsibilities.
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:33:13] <mkurland> I have been with AH for over two years and have worked closely with Deepa and Sam on other projects and accounts. Deepa and I are working closely to transition responsibilities through the end of the year.
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:34:43] <pck> thank you, Marybeth
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:35:30] <pck> since we know this is a busy time of year, we won't need to take the whole hour
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:36:03] <nonrandom> (somehow I missed the non-busy time.. will have to mark my calendar for it next year)
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:36:21] <pck> too true
[Wed 2009/12/09 15:36:31] <pck> any last questions?
