Announcing LOPSA Chapters

LOPSA would like to announce the LOPSA Locals Program. The purpose of LOPSA Locals is to give LOPSA members a "local community", local support and local activities. The concept of "year round hallway track" is major component of our philosophy. The local organizations provide much-needed local support to our members, and the LOPSA organization supports those efforts.

Finding other system administrators in your area...

During LISA, we emphasized the importance of local groups to the community. We also heard from those of you at LISA that getting local groups formed was a priority for those that don't already have one. Although LOPSA doesn't (yet) have a formal "support for local groups" activity, we've already started working on some things to help local groups (and people who want to form them). Since the launch of LOPSA, we've also seen a resurgence of interest in re-vitalizing some local groups that have been mostly inactive.

For some people, this is because they want a "real" local group, with meetings and presentations and some structure. Others just want to find other local system administrators for socializing and informal "stress relief" sessions. Of course, this all leads to the question "How can I find other sysadmins and LOPSA members in my area?" And we're working on some answers...

If you want to use a LOPSA logo image on your web page, the following rules apply:

  • Link to the logo image on our site, instead of making a copy. From time to time we may modify the logo, but the size will stay the same.
  • Link only to the LOPSA url we have provided -- http://lopsa.org
  • You can add explanatory text, but please do not have the text abut the image -- leave space so that the unmodified logo is clearly visible
