Greetings -
Some suggestions for enhancing membership value and attracting new members:
1. Create a knowledge base or knowledge repository and have it actively updated. Allow it to be searched by anyone. I can't think of a better way to attract people who may not be familiar with LOPSA - Capatilize on the power of Google, et al. Seek volunteers to oversee a particular discipline (for example: Webservers, Email Servers, Base OS's, Editors, etc.). I'll volunteer to moderate Linux or Webserver areas.
2. LOPSA negotiated discounts for Sys Admin types for things such as Web Hosting, Colocation, DNS Hosting, OReilly books, Vendor training, and so on.
3. A registry of members who offer services to Sys Admin types - for example the "following members offer Perl Consulting" or "the following members offer Web Hosting." Maybe offer a discount to LOPSA members - but that's up to the person. I'd rather do business with other members.
Thoughts?
Jeff
