Sorry for the blanket announcement about something that's LISA-specific, but
the BoF board doesn't provide nearly enough space to describe what the
ConfigFest is about.
A few of us discussed this earlier in the year, and Narayan and I have
decided to push through on it and see how it goes.
The idea is that people who are interested in Configuration Management[1]
will show up and mess around with some of the available tools, and
maybe any related tools, and there will be experts or pseudo-experts
available to help come up with both ideas for testing and with helping
people through problems they encounter.
Narayan is the author of BCFG (http://trac.mcs.anl.gov/projects/bcfg2/), I'm
the author of Puppet (http://reductivelabs.com/projects/puppet), and unless
someone else speaks up I could be considered a resident expert on cfengine
(http://www.cfengine.org).
Other tools that we could reasonably be expected to help people with would
be Nagios (http://www.nagios.org), ganglia
(http://ganglia.sourceforge.net/), and probably quite a few others.
Please bring a laptop or a telepathic uplink to the 'net.
Time: 9pm, Thursday
Location: Britany room (no idea where that actually is)
