In my case, I started in Academia, lastest 3.5 years and left due to
Salary and lack of growth potential.  Left the next job to get married
since my wife-to-be wasn't coming to where I was.  I could see me
still in that job #2 now, esp since I know they've grown and changed
over the years.

Job three was 6+ years, and for the last year of it I was miserable
and totally glad to get out.  Just took that long to find the right
new place to goto.  Plus I was in some ways going to be the last one
left to turn out the lights if they totally death spiraled into the
ground.  

My fourth job is now just past one year and I'm really enjoying it.
There are issues, but they can be solved and worked on.  Don't forsee
any changes.

In terms of changes, the *whys* are also a crucial question to go with
the length of each job

So how does this match.  Looking at this, it might also be good to add
in type of place, which could be Academia, Corp, Consulting?

Then getting enough of this data would be an interesting data set to
look at for trends.  And of course we could extend the fields to
include geographic locations as well.... though for now the whys could
handle that.
