[lopsa-discuss] LOPSA Book Club - December: Time Management for System Administrators

You guys are wonderful. Sometimes I feel like the people on this
mailing list are more passionate about "selling" my books than I am.
I really appreciate it. Humbled, actually.

(Raise your hand if you think Benji is on my payroll. :-) )

I write these books to help others (and because I have all these
ideas that I need to put down on paper before my brain explodes).

One thing I learned a long time ago is that you can lead a horse to
water but you can't make them drink. At my last job I gave copies of
TPoSANA to each of my staff and yet couldn't get them to read beyond
the autograph. Fundamentally these books are "self-help books" (all
technical books are, too, in my humble opinion). Something that the
self-help book industry understands is that people don't read a book
when they are forced to. You can't give a self-help book as a
Christmas gift... it's just insulting ("Gosh, 'Time Management' ...
how screwed up do you think I am?"). People read books when they are
ready for the help.

Anyway... I'm glad LOPSA made it the first ever "book of the month".
That's totally cool and appreciated.

Thanks, LOPSA!!!
