Benjamin:

Here at Entelos we don't rotate. We have one specific person whose job
it is to do Helpdesk triage and User Support. One person handles all of
the Microsoft Servers (as well as off-loading the User Support
occasionally), one Oracle DBA, one Linux Cluster Specialist, and one
(me) for the legacy Unix boxen and networking. Our manager (a rather
gifted individual to whom I gratefully relinquished my job) covers for
some of us if we are out or swamped. Projects take a back seat to any
immediate, production related, issues. In an environment of 70 users,
two-dozen Microsoft servers, 150+ Linux boxen, assorted Sun and Alpha
boxes, and assorted and sundry network pieces, this seems to work.

How doth the little crocodile
    Improve his shining tail,
And pour the waters of the Nile
    On every golden scale!
How cheerfully he seems to grin,
    How neatly spreads his claws,
And welcomes little fishes in,
    With gently smiling jaws!
