I think that we aren't limited to reuse and changing what it looks like.
I could be wrong there. It doesn't seem like a very friendly document for
other organizations to use. (something about no additional logos.. so
any local SysAdmin group who wanted to adopt the ethics wouldn't be able
to tag it in any way to say .. and we endorse these too).
> Also what happened to the review?
I'm not sure what is happening with the review. I talked to USENIX back
when the split happened, approached them as the Chair of the Committee,
and was told that any review needed to include Lee Damon. I contacted Lee
Damon. At that point he said he needed to find more information. I
approached him at LISA, he said he didn't feel the ethics document needed
a review. I talked to you at the conference, and it seemed like there was
a need to focus on some of the other volunteer projects and formation of
the organization.
At that point I haven't heard anything until the latest update.
I don't know if we the original committee still exist.. if this is just
open for discussion. We had a lot of momentum to start.. we had the
advertisement in the magazine.
Then I saw that SAGE put out something in their recent announcement saying
SAGE was going to review the ethics.. and then LOPSA saying that the
process was happening.. so it's been very confusing with no actual
communication with the past committee or this mailing group in general.
There is a note about "work with the LOPSA Communication Committee" ..
What committee is this?
There is a deadline of March 1 .. and that's almost exactly a month away.
I don't know who is supposed to be doing this review/coordinating the
review/involved in the review. Is one month enough time to actually drum
up enough groundswell to actually be interested in the ethics document
process?
