Howdy all,

I'm developing, with Chris Palmer, a introduction to LOPSA
presentation/kit. I gave a 15 minute version to a mixed
developer/SA/hobbyist crowd last night at a Phoenix Linux Users Group
meeting[0].

You all's opinion/input would be appreciated.

The outline of this version is more or less as follows:

What is a system administrator?
  -- definition
  -- examples
Why a professional organization?
  -- benefits, etc..
  -- maturity
Introducing: LOPSA
  -- mission statement
  -- history
Going forward
  -- the board
  -- 6 month plan
How you can help
  -- sysadmins: join and participate
-- supportors: tell your sysadmin friends about LOPSA

It was well received and I handed out many business cards and prompted
at least one person to sign up today. I'm talking with our local SAGE
spinoff (AZSAGE) about presenting a slightly different version next week
or dedicating a whole meeting to "issues of the profession as a whole".

Once I clean up my script/notes I'll bundle them with the presentation
for use by others. Pat Wilson was very good about sending us LOPSA
shirts as giveaway/raffle items. (Thanks Pat!)
