Yes. :)
The project has not yet been defined, so we need to work on that. We also
want the board to review our project definition and goals.
I think we can start implementing some things before we have everything
hammered out.
> Who is the project leader/volunteer coordinator?
Michael, who sent the project info earlier today, and I are the initial
project leaders. Eric has also volunteered to help lead the project.

Yes.

We have discussed several types of association. One would be for
sub-chapters, another for groups with which LOPSA has active
cross-pollination of sorts and then one where there is just a loose,
tangental connection.
I think we can start making the tangental connections while we work on how
we see the other two relationships working.
> What can LOPSA learn from groups in helping other groups form?
If we find groups that are really organized in some way we can hopefully
learn from them and help other groups learn as well.
For example, if a group has a really good setup for a speakers bureau or
for event management maybe LOPSA can learn from that setup and in turn
teach other regional groups or maybe even provide a centralized resource
for regional groups to use.
> What does LOPSA get/need from groups?
At this point I'd say mostly promo and encouragement to local group
members to join LOPSA.

The multi-million dollar question :).
One way is to make sure we have resources available when someone wants to
help. For this project I think that means having some goals people can be
working on and making sure the resources necessary for those goals are
available.
We have a start with the mailing list and the web page Michael created for
us. Now we need a few goals that people can be working on.
I'd like a mechanism we can use to help people find regional sysadm ( and
maybe related ) groups. Maybe that's just a frappr setup or we start a
directory and have links to {google, yahoo} maps.
We need an information kit we can give to regional groups to explain what
LOPSA is.
We need a stock "What is LOPSA?" presentation that can be given to local
groups. Michael has already worked out a bunch of that with Chris Palmer
and maybe other board members.
We need to start contacting regional groups :).
