In other words, you're going to duplicate the existing SAGE Speaker's
Bureau.
If this list is *ONLY* for people who will give presentations about
LOPSA, then sure, it makes sense for it to be a separate list. Other-
wise, I'd *REALLY* rather not duplicate existing effort. The SAGE list
is there, it's easy for speakers to add talks, and it contains all the
information you listed (and more).
This is clearly an area where SAGE and LOPSA could cooperate, and I see
no reason not to do so. As a speaker it would be nice to have one place
to register for both groups. It would be annoying to have to register
in two places, and it would be ANNOYING AS HELL for the registration
systems to be different.
If the concern is that SAGE would "own" that information and LOPSA would
be screwed if SAGE somehow "died," I'm sure something could be worked
out to keep an up-to-date copy of the master database on a LOPSA system
somewhere.
If the concern is that the SAGE list is out of date, well, it's just as
much in SAGE's interest as ours to fix that. Maybe we could offer to
help them freshen their database.
I'm also confident that most (if not all) other concerns could be
addressed and resolved. I'd at least like to see us try to cooperate
before we strike out on our own.
