moin moin,
I've been working with a few people to get some presentations for PLUG.
As it turns out most are LOPSA members. This leads to a plan I'd wanted to
pursue last year.
I propose that LOPSA-US-AZ start co-sponsoring some sys adm presentations
for PLUG.
Here's part of what I almost have wrapped up:
Alex covering MySQL tuning.
Mike covering Puppet configuration management system
Ian covering SystemImager
Charles covering surviving DDoS attacks
Charles covering Hobbit
The first two are set for the March east side meeting. Charles might be
covering the west side meeting for the next two months.
I've got a couple of others on the list, but haven't gotten confirmation
that they're prepared and we're just waiting on scheduling.
My goal is to have one presentation for PLUG every month. It could be east
side or west side.
I generally don't want to provide all the presentations for a meeting as
we don't want to overwhelm people with sys adm stuff. We might take all of
the March meeting as our kickoff event, though. Charles, you'd be the
pre-season presentation :).
Who is interested in helping line up the presentations?
Who is interested in doing presentations on sys adm topics?
LOPSA wants to bring sysadm days back to Phoenix. We need to build an
environment and membership that'll convince the board to make the
investment.
ciao,
der.hans
