Stipend competition to attend 2013 USENIX Women in Advanced Computing Summit

The League of Professional System Administrators (LOPSA) is pleased to again announce a $1500 stipend competition to assist in attending the 2013 USENIX Women in Advanced Computing Summit (WiAC'13).

WiAC'13 is part of the 2013 USENIX Federated Conferences Week and takes place in San Jose, CA on June 26-27, 2013. More information is at https://www.usenix.org/conference/wiac13 .

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, May 8, 2013 5:00 PM EDT.
 
Selection will be based on two brief essays (500 words or less each):
  1. What outcomes do you expect from attending WiAC?
  2. What can be done to increase the number of women in the information technology workforce?
Stipend recipients are also required to write a short report of their experiences of the summit. Those ex
perience reports and all candidates' essay submissions will be licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/) and may be published by LOPSA for the purposes of promoting diversity in system administration.

Submissions should be sent in PDF, Word, or plaintext via email to board@lopsa.org and should contain the essays and a cover page with your full name, mailing address, phone number, and email address.

Eligibility is restricted to women living in the US who are studying or working in a technical field. LOPSA and USENIX elected officials and staff are ineligible.

Deadline for submission: Wednesday, May 8, 2013 5:00 PM EDT.

Candidates will be notified by Wednesday, May 15, 2013 5:00 PM EDT.
