LOPSA News

Tonight we had a session that was mostly housekeeping, reaching out to chapter leaders, vendors, and administrative support. These communications will require some followup, so we expect to see more of this in the next few meetings.

Tonight we followed up with chapter leaders and our meeting minute transcription service.

This evening we explored calendar automation for syndicating our Knoxville chapter's events. We're hoping to help our most active chapter broaden their reach.

Also approved some board meeting minutes and reached out to our transcriber for an invoice for her services and to inquire about continued meeting minute transcription.

Tonight, the LOPSA Board met again for our usual Working Session meeting. We added a new Members-only page for Chapter Support on LOPSA.org. And we reached out to LOPSA Chapter leaders to syndicate their future event details on our events calendar on LOPSA.org. We look forward to meeting again soon, and working on more LOPSA.org changes.

Hello all!

We continue our work cleaning up the LOPSA website. We followed up on a ticket with our hosting provider regarding an issue with our Past Sponsors widgets, clarified language around making donations versus becoming a member on our donations page, and commented out a widget for sponsor ads (we are not currently sponsored but if interested check out Become a Sponsor!

We look forward to seeing you and providing more updates in the future.

In an effort to improve transparency, we wanted to provide our members and the community with some updates from our working sessions. These blurbs, while not all encompassing, exist to provide you all with more information about our weekly sessions and any results.

In our meeting, we hid Mentorship pages because our mentorship program is currently inactive pending refactor and relaunch. We Cleaned up Our Sponsors page by removing old corporate sponsors. Tidied language about becoming a corporate sponsor and included a link to our sponsorship page. Moved individual sponsors up the page. Put in a support ticket for Past Donors gadget which now only shows 1 not all 6 people.

Some future work might include:

• Following up on support ticket for misbehaving gadget
• Cleaning up Sponsor ads carousel
• Checking our Donate page and deciding should we clarify “this is for tax deductible donations not becoming a member"

In addition to our election results we'd like to wish our outgoing Vice President, Aaron Haun, a tremendous thank you for his years at the helm. Aaron, thank you for your many insights into the inner workings of LOPSA, parliamentary procedures, and non profits in general. Your input and friendship have been a tremendous asset over your many years of service, you'll be missed sir! In his stead, Jackson Smith is stepping up as both Secretary and Vice President.

Early voting for the LOPSA 2023 Board Election is now officially open!

We had originally communicated that we would open early voting on December 1st. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, including personal illness and an oversight on my part regarding a backup plan, it was unintentionally delayed.

I take full responsibility for this setback, and I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused. We have resolved the issues, and voting officially opened early voting on December 5th 2023.

Eligible members should have received an email from OpaVote, our third-party partner managing the polling process. Early voting provides flexibility ahead of the formal election day on December 31st.
